What to Know About Weight Loss Products

December 23rd, 2006 by Shanna Health Solution Team

There are a lot of weight loss products that offer that fast weight loss results, however, are these really guaranteed? Could these products live up to their assurance of a fit body?

In US, there is an estimated 50 million people who try to lose weigh, unfortunately, only 5 per cent are successful. One thing’s for sure, beware of fraudulent claims and extreme high cost because there is no magic to losing weight.

Samples of weight loss products in the market nowadays:
· Diet Patch – this was already removed since 1990’s by FDA since they were proven ineffective. · Magnetic Diet Pills – allegedly flushes out fat, but not. · Guar Gum – causes internal obstruction. · Electrical Muscle Stimulators – no proven effect. · Eyeglasses that Suppress Appetite – These claims that the projected image on the retina decreases appetite. No proven fact. · Weight loss earrings – through acupuncture, suppresses appetite.

There are also examples of weight loss products:

Diet drinks that are mixed with beverages or food are used as meal substitutes. A downside of this is that once a person stopped taking the drinks, they would eventually regain the lost weight after a short period of time due to feeling of emptiness in the stomach. Another is diet supplements and medicines that also don’t work long-term. Over-the-counter pills that compose of phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride may raise blood pressure and palpitation. Ephedra on the other hand can cause serious side effects such as heart problems, seizure, stroke, and even death. E.g.:

Herbalife Nutritional Program – good as two meals, dieters may rely on shakes and follow artificial dieting methods and just don’t want food to work into their lives.

Mega-Thin 100 Formula – Its formula contains an anti-fat weapon, however, diet is not emphasized that’s why it’s concluded that it has an appetite suppressant.

Nestlé’s Sweet Success – recommended to take three times a day and it does not promote healthy eating habits. Weight loss is difficult to maintain once intake is stopped.

Ultra Slim Fast – this plan requires regular exercise but does not teach good eating habits.

Diet pills with Ephedra and PPA – many of these have enclosed diet plans. Slimming can come from the diet plan and not the pill intake and there are risks of adverse side effects.

Chitosan products – contains fibers which were taken from shellfish that may cause diarrhea, bloatedness, and gas. This will only work if a low fat diet is practiced.

Chromium Supplements -claim that products will lower blood sugar, body fat and cholesterol but causes anemia and even memory loss. Studies show only minimal or no beneficial effect at all. Green Tea Extract Products – known as strong anti-oxidants that help lower cholesterol and triglycerides, and promote weight loss, however, the caffeine content could cause insomnia and restlessness.

Algae Tablets – Spirulina contains significant nutrients that can be an acceptable food when used as part of a varied diet but are very expensive.

St. John’s Wort Supplement – Claims that it will suppress appetite and promote weight loss but it could lead to gastrointestinal discomfort, tiredness, sleeplessness, and arouse allergic reactions.

Glucomannan Products – claim that two capsules before each meal decrease food absorption. Known as food thickeners but not yet proven safe or effective. Weight loss will only happen if good diet plan is followed.

Even if you plan on using over-the-counter weight supplements or even participate in a weight loss activity, the verdict is that you still have to eat fewer calories than you burn to lose weight. When choosing a weight loss product or program, collect as much information as possible.

Five Easy Steps to Follow for Finding a Safe Diet Plan

December 17th, 2006 by Shanna Health Solution Team

Why do people automatically think of starvation when talking about dieting? Not all diets require painful physical effort on your part. Actually, the diets that work are the ones you don’t even think about. They become part of your everyday lifestyle. The only thing you need to worry about is eating fewer calories than you normally do to go along with exercising enough to burn off those calories.
With that said, there is more than one formula to lose weight but it is important that the one you choice be safe to your health. There are countless weight loss programs and diets only looking to make a buck instead of reducing your caloric intake. The problem is people find it difficult telling them apart. It’s up to you to know which diets keep the weight off for good and which ones are a fad. Here is some help with that:

* Always be skeptical of any diet that tells you to eliminate a whole food group from your daily life. An example of this would be one of those popular non-dairy diets. By not consuming any dairy, you are in turn doing more harm than good by not getting enough essential nutrients such as calcium or vitamin D.

* I know that low carbohydrate diets are popular in a lot of circle but I am very skeptical of them. While you can and will lose weight by not eating carbs, that is done through lowering your lean body mass. you are adversely affecting the muscles in your body. With a lower amount of carbs in your system, your body is forced to burn muscle tissue to manufacture the glucose essential to the function of the brain and red blood cells. It is also important for make sure you are also properly hydrated on a non-carb diet since you risk damaging your kidneys.

* A smart decision to make is not start any diet that claims to cleanse your system through fasting. What they don’t tell you is that fasting does nothing to cleanse your body of toxins. The only thing you lose is fluid loss which leads to dehydration and possibly dangerous, low blood pressure.

* Ask a doctor or health professional about whether or not one of those very low calorie diets can work for you. These diets allow you to only eat 800 or less calories a day and can be quite unhealthy for people suffering from certain medical conditions such as kidney or liver disease. Most dietitians recommend these types of diets to individuals considered to be at least 30 percent overweight.

* If you plan on going with the diet pill route to lose weight, I strongly recommend asking your doctor first. Most shouldn’t even be used with the approval first of a prescribing physician. You should never allow anyone else but yourself use a diet pill prescribed to you only. You may put them at risk for possible adverse effects.

How to have great sex with your wife

December 16th, 2006 by Shanna Health Solution Team

To make love to your wife is one of the most important aspects of a healthy relationship both sexually and mentally. A healthy sex life with your wife equals longevity in your relationship, better health for you can your partner and most of all respect from your lady.

Let’s face it, women do not want some man that has no talent in the bedroom. If she can’t have it the way she needs it, she will go find it somewhere else. And that goes both ways because men will do the same thing. I am a firm believer in improving my sex life because:
1. I love my wife (Most important). If you do not truely love your wife or husband then it is virtually impossible to have a great sex life. I’m not saying you cannot pretend to be good, but who wants to be an actor in the bedroom?

2. Stamina. The more I do it, the better I look and feel. It’s important to have great sex and do it regularly to help promote a healthier life style. Remember, you can burn a lot of calories doing the “Wild Thang”.

3. Stability. I do not want my wife to go looking for love in the all the wrong places. I want her to come to me whenever she feels the need for some lovin’.

4. Last but not least, Reputation. I feel that the better I perform in the bedroom with my wife the more she wants to talk to her friends about me and the more she longs to be with me. That may sound a little conceited, but all women want to talk good about their man. Am I right or wrong ladies?

After about 2 years of marriage, my wife and I saw a decline in our sexual relationship. So I went to a local book store and purchased a book on Kama Sutra techniques. Every since I started practicing sex based on the book, I have been driving my wife wild in the bedroom. and let me tell you, once I learned how to please my woman, nature took control and she became an animal too.

If you have noticed the same decline as I did, I suggest Kama Sutra. It’s powerful sexually and will get you and your spouse back in the game for a long, long time!

Increase Your Metabolism with the Negative Calorie Diet

December 5th, 2006 by Shanna Health Solution Team

Many people are surprised to learn that they can lose weight simply by eating certain types of foods. How is this possible, you ask? Everyone knows that if you burn more calories then you take in you will burn excess body fat. The problem is most people go about this the wrong way by cutting to many calories only to find out that their metabolism begins to slow down because of the lack of caloric energy.
One of the best ways to increase your metabolism is by eating a negative calorie diet that consists of healthy foods. Look at it this way, the more nutritious the food you eat the better off your body will be. Kind of like your mom used to tell you when you tried to hide those peas in your napkin.

The Negative Calorie Diet works because it uses your body’s metabolism to burn all that excess body fat you’ve been trying to get rid of. If you understand how the body digests and processes food and the types of calories those foods provide you’ll begin to see why this type of diet works so well.

Everyday your body needs a certain number of calories to function all the way down to the cellular level. If you don’t get enough calories during the day your metabolism will actually begin to slow down as your body begins to conserve the energy it needs to function properly. If you have enough of a calorie deficit your body will begin to hold onto its fat stores as it cannibalizes its own muscle tissue to supply the energy it needs. This is the worst thing that can happen if you are trying to lose weight.

So what is a negative calorie food and how does it work?

It’s not a food that has a negative amount of calories because all foods have calories; there is just no way around that fact. What is known is that thee are many foods that actually cause a caloric deficit because of the amount of energy it takes to the body to digest and process these foods. It takes more energy to digest a nutrient rich food then food itself contains.

Here’s a simplistic snapshot of how this works. Let’s say you eat a piece of chocolate cake that comes in around 300 calories. Your body uses up 125 calories digesting that piece of cake leaving 175 calories that for the most part is stored as fat. Now let’s see what happen when you eat an apple that has 35 calories. If it takes your body 70 calories to digest that apple you’ve just burned an extra 35 calories simply by eating.

By increasing your metabolism you burn extra calories which results in a loss of bodily fat. One way to bring about that metabolism boost is by eating a negative calorie diet consisting of healthy food choices and by making the necessary lifestyle changes needed to live a long and healthy life.
